Additional Resources for Teaching ABC’s Before Kindergarten
Letter Factory DVD: This extremely effective DVD teaches the letter sounds with animated characters that tour the “Letter Factory.”
A is for Apple: This ABC Lift-the-flap Board Book is awesome because it shows both uppercase and lowercase letters, has simple pictures with a lift-the-flap feature, and also has the letters indented so your child can trace the letters with their finger as you read.

How It’s Made (DVDs)
These are so engaging as you learn about how everything from toothbrushes, to pasta, to fireworks, to bubble gum is made! You can purchase them two seasons at a time on DVD, and each DVD set shows the production of about 200 everyday items. Kids ages 4+ will enjoy these, and most adults enjoy them too!

Melissa & Doug Floor Puzzles
Melissa & Doug make a lot of nice toys, but their floor puzzles are unmatched in quality, color, and fun for kids! Out of all the toys made by this company, these are my favorite! The pieces are large and sturdy, which is great for little hands. They are huge puzzles (2 feet by 3 feet), but can be walked across without breaking apart.

Scripture Memory Favorites

Scripture Talk (DVD): Using motions to help memorize portions of scripture, and with a short, entertaining devotional included for each passage, this is definitely a DVD you’ll want in your collection!
Bible Memory Picture Cards: From the abeka curriculum, this set of picture cards is a fun and easy way for very young children to commit small verses to memory. Even if you don’t use abeka as your main homeschool curriculum, you will still benefit from having this set (as well as their other Bible materials) in your library.
Bible Songs for Kids (CD Series): These childrens music CDs put direct scripture into song. Your kids will literally go around singing the Bible!! There are several in this series.
A-B-C Say It With Me (DVD): This DVD will entertain even very small children as it goes through a verse for each letter of the alphabet, accompanied by little visual examples to go with them.
ABC Memory Book: I love that the binding on this one makes it a flip book– so you can face your child, reading the verse from the back, and showing them the corresponding picture. It’s a great basic beginner memory book!
